Energy in our daily lives

Oil and natural gas keep Canadians going from sunrise to sunset.

Thanks to Canada’s oil and natural gas industry, we can drive to work, play hockey with our friends, and arrive home to a healthy family dinner. We may not be aware of it but we rely on oil and natural gas from the moment we wake up until the end of our day.

Natural gas enables the production of steel for our buildings, while oil fuels the vehicles that deliver fruit to our grocery stores. Natural gas heats our homes, while oil is used to create the clothes that keep us warm in the winter. Hockey pucks are made of rubber and oil, while the produce we use to make family dinners arrives to us via trucks and trains.

  • As Canadians, we utilize oil and natural gas countless times each day, often without realizing it.
  • From the alarm clock that wakes us up in the morning, to the produce that arrives in our local grocery stores thanks to trucks and trains, our daily lives are fuelled by oil and natural gas.
  • You can help Canadians maintain our high quality of life by becoming an Energy Citizen today.
