Since 1952, British Columbia has been a proud producer of both natural gas and crude. The energy sector, either directly or through its supply chain, provided more than 50,000 jobs in 2017.
And in 2017, the B.C. government received more than $800 million in revenue (land sales and royalties) from oil and natural gas royalties. That's a lot of money to help fund new roads, schools and hospitals.
Finally, with global demand for natural gas set to increase by nearly 49 per cent, there is an incredibly opportunity to establish and grow an LNG (liquefied natural gas) industry on Canada's West Coast. According to a study by the Conference Board of Canada, a modest West Coast LNG industry exporting 30 million tonnes per year would reduce B.C.'s unemployment rate by an average of 0.5 per cent over a 30-year period!
Our industry has a proud record of responsible development in British Columbia and needs your support today!
